1. The service
OrbytPay provides payment collection and disbursement for merchants and connected apps. Collections are processed over Korapay’s licensed payment rails. Funds are credited to your OrbytPay balance only after Korapay’s signed confirmation and OrbytPay’s independent verification both succeed.
Your merchant dashboard, API responses, and ledger history are the records of amounts credited, fees applied, and withdrawals sent. Mission Control pages (Ledger, Pay, Payouts, Events, Admin) are for OrbytPay operators only - merchants use the Portal.
2. Fees
Every collection carries a flat ₦100 processing fee (₦50 Kora + ₦50 OrbytPay). That fee is platform processing - not merchant earnings. Set fee_bearer to customer (default) or merchant. Example when the customer bears the fee: you request ₦10,000 → customer pays ₦10,100 → you are credited ₦10,000.
- Your dashboard shows who pays the fee - not fee revenue as income you earned.
- Statements and transaction records itemise what the customer paid, the ₦100 fee, and the amount you received.
- Charges levied by receiving banks on the cash side are separate from the OrbytPay processing fee.
- When the customer bears the fee, disclose the ₦100 addition clearly before they pay.
3. Settlements, withdrawals, and refunds
Your available balance may be withdrawn to a Nigerian bank account in your name via Kora disburse. Account names are resolved before sending. Balances debit atomically. Failed transfers are refunded to your OrbytPay balance.
You may refund a credited payment up to the amount you received. The customer’s ₦100 processing fee on the original collection is not returned with the refund.
Every balance movement - credits, fees, withdrawals, and refunds - is recorded on OrbytPay’s hash-chained ledger. Your transaction history in the dashboard and API is the authoritative record of amounts credited net of fees.
4. Identity verification (KYC)
To unlock withdrawals and higher limits, you must complete business verification (KYC) in the Portal. OrbytPay may request identity documents, business registration details, and related information to meet compliance obligations and reduce fraud risk.
- Provide accurate, current information. Incomplete or false submissions may delay or block withdrawals.
- OrbytPay may suspend payouts while verification is pending or if documents cannot be validated.
- Verification status and next steps appear in the Portal KYC flow.
5. Prohibited use
You may use OrbytPay only for lawful commerce. You must not use the service to:
- Process payments for illegal goods or services, fraud, money laundering, or sanctions evasion.
- Misrepresent the nature of a charge, the fee bearer, or the recipient of funds.
- Share or expose secret keys, portal sessions, or admin credentials.
- Attempt to bypass fee disclosure, KYC, velocity limits, or security controls.
- Interfere with checkout, webhooks, ledger integrity, or other merchants’ accounts.
OrbytPay may refuse, reverse, or hold transactions, and may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms or applicable law.
6. Your responsibilities
- Keep secret keys and sign-in credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity under your credentials.
- Provide accurate bank account details for withdrawals and resolve name mismatches promptly.
- Honour refunds and customer disputes in line with your own policies and applicable consumer rules.
- Comply with Nigerian law and any rules that apply to your industry.
7. Liability and availability
OrbytPay aims for reliable collection and payout processing, but payment rails, banks, and third-party networks can fail or delay. To the fullest extent permitted by law, OrbytPay is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses - including lost profits, lost data, or business interruption - arising from use of the service, rail outages, or delayed settlements.
OrbytPay’s total liability for a claim relating to a specific payment is limited to the fees OrbytPay retained on that payment (the OrbytPay portion of the ₦100 processing fee), except where liability cannot be limited by law.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, or other liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
8. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes - including any change to the processing fee - will be shown here with a new “last updated” date. Continued use of OrbytPay after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
